Ruvo Door Machines
RUVO has roots dating back to 1947, when company founder Rudolph “Rudy” Volkmer began manufacturing machinery in a small shop in Long Island, NY. RUVO was purchased by Merrick Machine Co. in 1990.
Since then, Merrick Machine Co. has refined and expanded the RUVO machine production line for door and millwork shops. As a result, RUVO Door Machines have become an integral part of the industry throughout the world. RUVO stands as the perfect complement to Merrick’s Triad Machines product line of wall-panel, sub-component, window, and stair manufacturing equipment.
Merrick Machine Co. was originally founded by Jim Merrick in 1961. It was established to manufacture a new line of highly automated and specialized machinery for home builders. Now over 50 years later, with RUVO Door Machines and Triad Machines, Merrick Machine Co. continues to be a leader in the industry.

Jim Merrick
Merrick Machine Company was founded in 1959 by Jim and Norma Merrick, beginning as a modest four-person operation on 4th Street in Grand Island, Nebraska. What started as a small shop would grow into a multigenerational family business built on craftsmanship and commitment. The first product line was TRIAD Machinery, specifically window equipment, which quickly evolved into wall panel equipment.
The next generation joined early. Jim and Norma’s son, Rick Merrick, came aboard in the mid-1960s, and his wife Linda followed in 1979. Together, Rick and Linda dedicated the next two decades to growing the company, expanding its capabilities and deepening its reputation in the region.
In 1973, Merrick Machine relocated to its current home in Alda, Nebraska. The original facility stood at 10,000 square feet — a footprint that would prove far too small for the company’s ambitions. Through multiple expansions over the years, the facility now spans more than 50,000 square feet.
Norma Merrick
Jim’s grandson, Russ Merrick, joined the business in the mid-1970s, carrying the family legacy into a third generation. Russ rose to General Manager in 1988 and made a pivotal move in 1990 with the acquisition of the RUVO product line. Building on that momentum, Merrick Machine expanded again in 2003, launching into the aftermarket, restoration, automotive, and industrial markets under what would become a well-known brand in the industry — The Auto Dolly.
In the 1970s, Rick expanded the organization further with the addition of TRIAD Fastener, a plastic injection molding company. That spirit of growth continued in the years that followed, with the organization broadening its portfolio to include Fu-Tek Tooling, a tool and die operation, and Triad Products, serving both the agricultural and brewing industries.
Rick and Linda
Under the leadership of Russ Merrick — Jim’s grandson — the TRIAD and RUVO lines evolved from their Nebraska roots into a global enterprise. Today, the organization employs more than 80 people and is supported by over 40 independent sales representatives serving customers around the world. Throughout it all, Merrick Machine has maintained its distinction as the longest-standing wall panel manufacturer in North America.
With Russ’s two daughters now active in the business, Merrick Machine has entered its fourth generation of family ownership — and with it, a renewed focus on the future. True to its origins, the company continues to be guided by the same opportunity-driven philosophy that has defined it since Jim and Norma first opened their doors in 1959.
